This last weekend was Cape Town fashion week. I was lucky enough to be invited to all the shows Friday and Saturday night, and I had front row seats for the Craig port show Friday night as well as front row seats for the Gavin Rajah show saturday night. The standard of designs and innovation improves every year, but in my opinion some of the shows lacked "oomph" or some sort of entertainment value...I am a bit of a "fashionista" so i know the focus is the clothes but i still want to be entertained somewhat(especially if the clothes are a tad tedious)

.

The highlight for me of the whole fashion week was the Gavin Rajah show. U walked in and there were exotic dancers suspended from swings high above. The use of smoke and lighting was very effective as well as the dramatic music a good accompaniment to Gavin's bold and creative designs. During his show u felt as if u were in some strange world, also due to his use of some quirky model choices.

The Arise Cape Town fashion week was a great success, and im glad i was able to attend as fashion and being fashionable has become inextricably linked to self marketing as well as your public persona. All public figures are judged or scrutinized on what they wear or what their style is, so it is very important for me to be stylish and fashionable.
