FTV Midnight Hot Show 22nd August

FTV is the premiere spot in Cape Town for fashion events and on saturday night at midnight, I modelled in the Midnight Hot Lingerie show. Me in my underwear and 6 gorgeous girls in lingerie. It was a really tough job...but someone had to do it!

Im more of a performer than a "model", so i really try to entertain the crowd, bring something a little different and get the party started!

Cape town Fasion week

This last weekend was Cape Town fashion week. I was lucky enough to be invited to all the shows Friday and Saturday night, and I had front row seats for the Craig port show Friday night as well as front row seats for the Gavin Rajah show saturday night. The standard of designs and innovation improves every year, but in my opinion some of the shows lacked "oomph" or some sort of entertainment value...I am a bit of a "fashionista" so i know the focus is the clothes but i still want to be entertained somewhat(especially if the clothes are a tad tedious).

The highlight for me of the whole fashion week was the Gavin Rajah show. U walked in and there were exotic dancers suspended from swings high above. The use of smoke and lighting was very effective as well as the dramatic music a good accompaniment to Gavin's bold and creative designs. During his show u felt as if u were in some strange world, also due to his use of some quirky model choices.

The Arise Cape Town fashion week was a great success, and im glad i was able to attend as fashion and being fashionable has become inextricably linked to self marketing as well as your public persona. All public figures are judged or scrutinized on what they wear or what their style is, so it is very important for me to be stylish and fashionable.

Mr and Ms Fitness Pageant 14/15 August

The Mr and Miss Fitness SA pageant took place this last weekend at Grandwest Casino in Cape Town. I took part in the Mens Model division where I came 14th out of 37. The standard of the guys was incredible, the top 10 were really committed and they came in hard and ripped! No excuses but I maintain a more natural look as this is more marketable and commercial...Thus I minimise my "freak factor", for example the guys on cover of Mens Health(the benchmark basically) are natural, lean, good looking guys who possess no freak factor. This is what I strive for, and its not about conforming, its about staying mainstream and marketable. I love to eat and I love to train hard, but if i didnt hold back I would be a massive freak! So I train lightly and eat small healthy meals... I do cheat though ;) Nothing better than a great Italian pasta dish or a massive fillet steak!!! All in all it was an amazing show with some incredible performances and the opening act was mind blowing! Great job to Bernadette and Dean Beyer for putting it together. On a side note, Mr SA 2009 Steven Segal was one of the fashion judges, I had a good chat with him, what a great guy...he is such a gracious and approachable person, qualities I really believe in.

Why me?

We are all socialised by our senses(what we see, what we hear, what we smell, what we touch and what touches us and what we eat). This is what creates who we are. And thus we are all products of our environments...

I am a product of my environment. And this has made me who and what I am.
Born in Sea Point in Cape Town, most of my primary school years were during the apartheid era.
My last year of primary school, apartheid was abolished and there was change in the air, instead of just having white friends, I now also had black and couloured friends.
Going into Sea Point high school, most of my friends went to the more "upmarket" Camps Bay High school and some to private schools...
By the time I finished matric at Sea Point High the school was 90% black.
My mother was an extremely empathetic person, and thus i naturally followed suit and I embraced my fellow African brothers and sisters, while others ran away and tried to avoid the reality that things had changed...because most people are afraid of change, they like being in a comfort zone; whereas I embrace change. I was in a cultural melting pot-Xhosa, Zulu, Hindu, Muslim and Cape Coloured and I embraced all these new cultures.
So my schooling experience, as well as the image of Mandela's release in 1990 and then the changing of the govt, set the background for my interest in societal, environmental and even global change.
