Mr SA w-end in Balito

So on the last weekend before christmas all the Mr SA 2010 finalists were flown to Balito for a weekend of sand, beach, fun and sun! It was to be a fun weekend away as well as a team building exercise and promotion of Mr SA in Durban.

I flew up a day early and was picked up from the airport in a brand new BMW 330i, as SMG BMW Durban were sponsoring all transport the whole weekend. Thereafter checked in to the Boathouse beach resort right on Balito beach. The Boathouse had kindly sponsored all Mr SA finalists accommodation and meals. On Friday myself, Marco and Murray went to East Coast Radio to be interviewed by Damon Beard. He quizzed us about our Mr SA experience so far and we promoted the charity auction taking place on Saturday night at The Boathouse... the items on auction being...the Mr SA finalists!

That Friday night a few of us went to all the Balito jols to further promote the charity auction... but everywhere we went there were just kiddies! And 17 year old girls are too young to even understand what a man is! Men need women and there were only teenyboppers... It was quite a funny experience to say the least.

The next day we awoke to a beautiful breakfast and the rest of the finalists arrived. It was Saturday and we had a full day planned! It started off with TV interviews for Vuzu TV then lunch at another beautiful resort and by midday some beach action shots of all of us... but then the heavens opened and it started to bucket down! But the videographer did manage to get some good footage.

Evening arrived... and it was show time! The guests started arriving for the charity auction, on auction were gift packs, hampers and as I said before, al die manne! Nic Billington and his dancers were there for entertainment but the most entertaining element of the evening was definitely the finalists strutting their stuff! There was even a guest torso showing by 2009 Mr SA runner up and Heat Manwatch Torso of the Year winner Jaco De Bruyn. It was not a traditional auction but a lot of fun was had by all...I mean what is not fun about bidding for a kiss from a Mr SA 2010 finalist? Lets just say the ladies were in heaven ;)
The weekend was a lot of fun and it brought all the finalists closer together... we are the men who can make a difference in this country. I would like to give a big thanks to The Boathouse for the amazing accommodation, SMG for the stylish transport, Carol Van Niekerk from Personal Touch for organising every last detail, Marge B for great event styling, Johan Stephan for producing the TV inserts, Pieter Cornelius for his amazing photography, Susca Stemmet for making the whole thing possible and to all the Finalists for being great men and making it a memorable weekend!
