HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Well its a bit belated, but in life it can never be too late... so happy new year everyone! Wow hey how time does fly... Its already almost the end of January! 2010 seems to be flying by! I wonder what all your new year resolutions were, and now we in January has anybody been able to stick to them? I know I havent stuck to most of mine, but the most important one I have...

Its 2010. The year South Africa has been waiting for. We will be hosting the world's biggest sporting event... The World Bowling Cup! I jest, we all know what we will be hosting, lets hope Bafana can kick some European and South American ass! Go boys!!! But its more than just a sporting event, so much more. And we all know it and we feel it. Its a year full of hope, in which we all feel we can do so much... and this beautiful country of ours can edge closer to the amazing potential it has.

Why are new years resolutions so hard to stick to? I think its because people dont plan them properly. I know it sounds weird to say "plan" a resolution... but the 7 P's have always resonated with me; and excuse my "French" here, but its for emphasis, Prior Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance. So in other words to truly get something done, to guarantee its success, it must be planned properly. Lets say for example your resolution is to stop smoking. So 1st Jan comes and you stop smoking cold turkey. We all know that these never last and a few weeks later or few months you start again. This is because it wasn't planned properly. In most cases it always needs to be written down...In January I will decrease the number of ciggies smoked each day from 20 to 15 and I will research all the quitting methods. February I will start implementing these methods while further decreasing the number smoked per day. And so on and so on. Smoking, as with losing weight, and most other goals, is a gradual thing which needs to be planned properly. My advice for the new year :)

The resolution I am sticking to this year and will stick to as long as the energy courses through my body is: to back myself in everything I do and say 100%. And I feel like Ive been planning this my whole life. I know what and who I am and I know my purpose on this earth. I know where I am going and what I am doing. And I know where I am coming from, a place of integrity and old school values. Nothing or no one can stand in my way, I am unstoppable.

Some words from the very wise Billings Mwimbe Siwila:
"Focus on what you want. Speak what you want to experience in your life. Speak your future into your present reality. WORK towards achieving what you want. IGNORE negative circumstances, doubt peddlars and joy killers who come to kill, steal and destroy your positive energy and interact with positive people moving in faith.

And remember that you are destined to win. You are extracted from championship material. Victory is guaranteed. You will win. You are a winner. Success in the field of your endeavour is your portion in this life. Believe it, confess it and DO IT."

Its 2010. Its my year, your year...our year. Make all your dreams reality.

Mr SA w-end in Balito

So on the last weekend before christmas all the Mr SA 2010 finalists were flown to Balito for a weekend of sand, beach, fun and sun! It was to be a fun weekend away as well as a team building exercise and promotion of Mr SA in Durban.

I flew up a day early and was picked up from the airport in a brand new BMW 330i, as SMG BMW Durban were sponsoring all transport the whole weekend. Thereafter checked in to the Boathouse beach resort right on Balito beach. The Boathouse had kindly sponsored all Mr SA finalists accommodation and meals. On Friday myself, Marco and Murray went to East Coast Radio to be interviewed by Damon Beard. He quizzed us about our Mr SA experience so far and we promoted the charity auction taking place on Saturday night at The Boathouse... the items on auction being...the Mr SA finalists!

That Friday night a few of us went to all the Balito jols to further promote the charity auction... but everywhere we went there were just kiddies! And 17 year old girls are too young to even understand what a man is! Men need women and there were only teenyboppers... It was quite a funny experience to say the least.

The next day we awoke to a beautiful breakfast and the rest of the finalists arrived. It was Saturday and we had a full day planned! It started off with TV interviews for Vuzu TV then lunch at another beautiful resort and by midday some beach action shots of all of us... but then the heavens opened and it started to bucket down! But the videographer did manage to get some good footage.

Evening arrived... and it was show time! The guests started arriving for the charity auction, on auction were gift packs, hampers and as I said before, al die manne! Nic Billington and his dancers were there for entertainment but the most entertaining element of the evening was definitely the finalists strutting their stuff! There was even a guest torso showing by 2009 Mr SA runner up and Heat Manwatch Torso of the Year winner Jaco De Bruyn. It was not a traditional auction but a lot of fun was had by all...I mean what is not fun about bidding for a kiss from a Mr SA 2010 finalist? Lets just say the ladies were in heaven ;)
The weekend was a lot of fun and it brought all the finalists closer together... we are the men who can make a difference in this country. I would like to give a big thanks to The Boathouse for the amazing accommodation, SMG for the stylish transport, Carol Van Niekerk from Personal Touch for organising every last detail, Marge B for great event styling, Johan Stephan for producing the TV inserts, Pieter Cornelius for his amazing photography, Susca Stemmet for making the whole thing possible and to all the Finalists for being great men and making it a memorable weekend!
